Orange County Office

Our Southern California operation is based in Aliso Viejo and focuses on projects throughout the greater Los Angeles area and into San Diego.  In addition to housing our growing Southern California design team, H&S OC is home to our Forensic Engineering division. Located in the heart of Orange County, our office is close to the great outdoors. Beaches, regional parks and other outdoor activities (concerts, art, etc.) are a short drive away.


Position Summary & Qualifications

Position Summary

Our Field Services division is currently seeking Field Services Engineers for our OC office.  At Harris & Sloan, Field Engineers act as the liaisons between office design staff and our trade partners in the field. Typical responsibilities include on-site observation and inspection of as-built conditions for conformance with approved design documents and specifications, generating field notes and reports, and coordinating Requests for Information (RFI). Our Field Engineers manage multiple project schedules to ensure timely observations and inspections within the client’s construction schedules.



  • Engineering or Construction Management degree OR
  • 4+ years of direct construction related field experience
  • Experience with:
    • Reading and understanding plans and specifications, specifically those related to:
      • Post-tension deck & slab on ground construction
      • Conventional concrete foundations
      • Wood framing
      • Mechanical air distribution systems
    • Coordinating project schedules
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • Communicate clearly with field and office staff
    • Develop cooperative and productive relationships with clients
    • Operate efficiently; juggle tasks while maintaining a big-picture perspective
    • Work independently with minimal oversight; follow through on commitments
    • Maneuver through active construction sites in all seasons, navigating uneven terrain, climbing stairs, etc
    • Solve problems effectively; embrace challenges; adapt
  • Understanding and proficiency using the following software:
    • MS Windows
    • MS Office
    • PDF Editors such as Bluebeam, iAnnotate, and/or Adobe

This is an exempt position and pays a competitive salary based on experience.
